Today's Electric Scooter is Designed to Meet the Needs of Both Young and Old

Until recently, most people associated electric scooters with devices intended to increase mobility for senior adults. Scooters themselves, were generally associated with younger pre-teenaged children as an alternative mode of transportation to the standard bicycle. The advances made in engineering have allowed for a crossover between the two, which has resulted in some very innovative styles of transportation. The various models currently available for sale come with assorted features designed to meet the needs of both young and old.

Sit or Stand

One of the most diverse features for today's electric scooter is found in its structural design. Some scooters are built with a seat to allow riders to sit comfortably as they coast along the road. Other models use the traditional design, which allows a rider to stand while moving in a forward motion. Depending on the particular model, the size of the wheels could also vary with some seated models having larger 16 inch wheels. These models could also be available in styles that have either two or three wheels. Models that have a wider base could even carry multiple riders through the use of an attached rear seat and a removable front child seat.

Convenient Features

An electric scooter is powered by an on-board battery. Some models might have detachable batteries for ease of recharging. This is an extremely helpful feature for people who live in urban city areas, where accessing the scooter's charging dock might not always be an easy undertaking. Batteries that can be swapped with more powerful ones could also increase the distance a rider could travel between charges. Some of the models designed for standing also have the ability to fold. This also makes them portable, since they could be easily stored inside the trunk of a car or carried up a flight of steps.
